Hi Keith,

I also run BackupPC on Ubuntu 10.04.  When you downloaded and installed
BackupPC (assuming apt-get install backuppc was used), the installation
process will ask you to select the which application you will be using
for your web interface.  For Ubuntu 10.04, you should have selected
Apache2.  Next, it gave you a password for the backuppc user.  You will
need to log on (or su to) backuppc user to access the CGI interface the
first time.  Also, before starting to set up backuppc, you need to
create your user account within the CGI interface by issuing the command

/etc/backupc htpasswd .htpasswd your_user_name

You will be prompted to enter your password twice to be used for access
to backuppc.

Now, as backuppc user, enter url http://your_server_name/backuppc
This will bring up a dialog to log into the CGI interface.  Use username
"backuppc" and enter the password given at install.  This should get you
into the CGI interface.  Now you can add yourself as an admin user and
next time you can log in as yourself with the password set earlier to
the CGI interface and you to manage your system.  -- ken
