You can explicitly label the disk using e.g. e2label and then
start your fstab entry like this:

LABEL=backup01                                  /mnt/backup01

Or you can use the UUID:

UUID=06d2993c-9afd-4a06-990b-0692389c06e9       /boot

The above examples are taken from a Fedora 11 installation
I was running a few months ago (where I symlinked the standard
topdir to the correct subdir of backup01).
