I use box with coppermine 800Mhz -> on the other end 50 boxes with linux.

(rsync over ssh) vpn connection on ADSL INTERNET and GPRS,UMTS.

[root@kawaii ~]# uname -a
Linux kawaii 2.6.14.7-5 #1 Fri Mar 17 15:04:32 CET 2006 i686
Celeron_(Coppermine) unknown PLD Linux

top - 22:23:29 up 92 days, 13:34, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.28, 0.54
Tasks: 83 total, 2 running, 80 sleeping, 0 stopped, 1 zombie
Cpu(s): 0.0% us, 0.3% sy, 0.0% ni, 99.7% id, 0.0% wa, 0.0% hi, 0.0% si
Mem: 321488k total, 230980k used, 90508k free, 1660k buffers

Other services on machine are:
apache

rsync
Make some extra swap partition just in case. I got some strange
situation until I made some extra swap(just 128MB and 256 ). I am sure
that only if machine is properlly checked (memtest and other stuff) it
could work for you 24/7.
