You may want to use something faster than RAID-5 for your tapes --
that may be part of the bottleneck.

At the moment, Amanda only writes to one tape (virtual or otherwise) at a time.

You said in your last email:

So why are DLEs "waiting for dumping"?  Is your holding disk full?
