I believe this has been run across before, most often I see
it when trying to do an amrestore and not taking into account
that you aren't specifying a litteral but rather a regular-expression.

The proper command should have been 
        # amadmin KDD force genome /$

the end of line would have prevented subsequent strings from matching.

It is documented, but offhand I couldn't tell you where, perhaps
even in the man page (though without personal experience I'd probably
not have realized what regular expression mean).
