Is user-tar the dumptype in your disklist for the DLE you wanna backup?
being just a test, I only have one entry, which reads: myclient.mydomain /Users/amanda/sync user-tar is that correct?
I also ran ./configure again on my client with --with-gnutar=/usr/ local/xtar/xtar (and subsequent make and make install, of course).
I don't know xtar and if it's compatible with gnu-tar. Isn't there a gnu-tar for your OS?
I'm not sure I'll check it. However, I saw a few documentations online where they used xtar for OS X (my client's OS).
