Hi,
(Sorry if this is a resend)
Finally got to play with the split-tape feature with
amanda-2.5.2-20070523 + a path/fix from Jean-Louis for 'od' on
irix-6.5.27 and so far so good.
Server was compiled 64bit with native Irix C compiler and
CFLAGS='-64 -mips4'.
The test was done using an old SGI O200 4cpu/892MB of memory running
irix-6.5.27m with an adic-18 library with a barcode reader and a
DLT7000 drive (dug out from the attic). I've set up a 47GB local
logical volume (/bigdisk) and a 51GB holdding disk to test all this.
A few things I noticed:
1- with tape_splitsize=4000Mb in the dumptype along with
fallback_splitsize=4000Mb I get the tape to stream at 5kps IF I don't
restrict the holdding disk usage (the whole DLE can fit in it).
However by forcing 'use 10 Gb' in the holddingdisk section and having
split_diskbuffer="/holddisk/split_diskbuffer" I can only get a
transfer rate of ~2.5kps to the tape drive.
Would that be an issue of bandwith between the shared memory map file
and the tape drive?
2- when trying to get the next tape from the changer during the restore
amrecover spits out the message:
could not stat 'changer': No such file or directory
amrecover successfully completes the restore though.
amanda is configured with
amrecover_do_fsf yes
amrecover_check_label yes
amrecover_changer "changer"
Here is an example of a amrecover test:
/opt/amanda/spantest/sbin/amrecover
