What exactly was the dd command you used to test with? Specifically, what
blocksize did you use?
I tried with 32k and 256k. No difference.
Maybe I should try with a bigger block size. But I think I'll instead create a software raid0 or try Jon's suggestion and fiddle with the config before launching amdump and after.
