Hello,
Why don't you give this a try. From the client as root run:
amrecover NameOfConfig -s gssserv -t gssserv
Thanks

Subject: Amrecover not connecting to server???
Hello all:
Quick question for ya'll.....I'm probably missing something simple, but
here goes.
My amanda install works fine doing backups. I tried a test recovery to
make sure everything was fine, and get this error when running amrecover
as root:
AMRECOVER Version 2.4.4p4. Contacting server on gssserv ...
501 Could not read config file /usr/local/etc/amanda/#/amanda.conf!
Now, I've got an .amandahost file in root's home directory, and it contains:
gssserv root
Amcheck reports no errors, everything works fine. This has got me stumped.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
