As far as I understood it the problem lies with Samba (they changed the
output format of smbclient or something) and while there was a patch to
handle that in one of the Amanda snapshots (or at least a patch was
proposed) but it has been removed again (respectively never got added) and
instread the Samba team changed the format back to the original in one of
their later versions. In short that would mean that the Amanda releases work
(no snapshot required) provided you get the correct Samba version.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
