If the 1% is 1,000 10MB files, absolutely NOT.

If the 1% is 10,000,000 1KB files, and if you're using GNU tar,
then my experience is that you would be lucky if it was that fast.

(I switched from GNU tar to ufsdump --not an option for you unless
you use a snapshot-- a couple of years ago because of multi-hour
estimate times on file systems with 2-3M files.
