Re: Lot's of I/O errors...

Hi
what does the /var/log/messages (or /var/adm/messages whichever) say
around this time? You could have dirty heads, bad tapes or indeed a
broken drive. Or something like a bad SCSI cable.

I've mentioned this earlier, but not a lot came out of it:
I've been getting a lot of

lately. This does not, however, happen all the time, and not for
specific tapes, either. Also, I can't find any error messages related to
the tape device in the system log etc., and I've tested the unit quite a
bit, and based on that, I don't think the problem is really the *write*,
but is rather related to the holding disk image read. I can't figure out
how exactly, though.
How do I go about finding out what exactly is wrong? Also, who wrote the
above mentioned error message? I'm a bit annoyed with that person now, I
must say. Why? Well, for leaving out the file name from a file related
error message, of course. [ Some serious flaming omitted at this point... ]
Amanda version
(brought to you by Amanda version 2.4.4p1)
Before that I used one of the 2.4.4 snapshots, and before that again,
2.4.4. I got the same problem with the snapshot release, but not 2.4.4
itself, I believe (so perhaps I'll downgrade...)
