It's quite possible that there was a database-level backup happening at that 
time. Can I find out when amanda tried to backup this partition? It doesn't 
show up in the report and I'm a total noob with all the other tools.

My mistake, wrong word. When I said 'archive' I meant a Level 0 dump of all 
systems no matter what. Our normal backups are incremental unless amanda 
decides otherwise.
