My backup server ~amanda/.amandahosts looked like this
"localhost amanda
 localhost.localdomain amanda "

and my /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny were blank.

I have tried
1. leave /etc/hosts.allow and hosts.deny blank, added "localhost root" and
"localhost.localdomain root" to ~amanda/.amandahosts .

2. add "amandad: localhost" "amandaidx: localhost" "amidxtape: localhost"
to /etc/hosts.allow .

They both failed to work with amrecover.

My backup server /etc/hosts is
" 127.0.0.1     localhost       localhost.domain localhost
192.168.1.47    node2
192.168.1.100   amanda-server
"
