I'll try to make my customer do this test. 

Note that TSM backups to ProtecTIER does not suffer from so poor performances, 
it seems that it only affect DB Backup.

Try using the itdt tool to generate an I/O stream to the Protectier, take TSM 
out of the picture.
If it runs the same (slow) speed, then the problem is on the Protectier side.

Hi all,

I've a customer who's complaining about very slow performance of backup DB to 
ProtecTIER : 10 MB/s while it's 10 times faster to tape (LTO4).

TSM Server is 6.3.2.0 on AIX.
Backup DB to ProtecTIER is DBB (Full) while Backup DB to LTO4 is DBS.

We've tried different combinations of NUMSTREAMS and DEDUPEDEVICE without any 
success. It's seems to be slower and slower...

Any suggestion ? Thanks.
