Hi
The only way to connect 10 zOS machines to a TS3500 library is to split the
library into 10 logical libraries unless you have one zOS machine that can act
as a library manager (through TSM for example). This is done through the admin
interface of the 3500 and basically means you will have 1 drive for each zOS
machine.
I'm no zOS specialist, so i'm not sure if DFSMS can handle library sharing. But
only 1 machine can control a logical library, which means that you cannot have
all zOS machine trying to act as library managers over a single control path.
According to the DFSMS manual
(http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/zos/v1r9/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.zos.r9.idarc00/c8026.htm)
it looks like you should be able to do this library sharing in DFSMS so that
you can dynamically use the drives between all zOS machines, but like I said,
I'm no zOS guy. Perhaps there is someone else on the list who knows this better.
Best Regards
Daniel Sparrman

Maybe this is more clear-cut:
How can ten z/OS systems connect to a TS3500 library that has ten TS1130
drives and one 3592-C06 control unit? How is the MPIO mechanism?
P.S:
3592-C06 control unit has only four 4Gbps FICON ports for z/OS hosts
path failover feature is available in the library.
Thank you,
Mehdi
