The virtualnodename option is for use in command line only !
If you want to use an alternate nodename, then make many servername definitions 
in your dsm.sys whith each nodename

I placed the - virtualnodename   bolton01   in the options file. However
when I go to the command line and type in dsmc I get that's not valid
