NPIV works well with both disk and tape, but make sure you take in account the
fact that the virtualized hba you get on your client lpar is not the same kind
you get on the VIO.

The output of lsdev -Cc adapter is ;

Fcs0 Available C2-T1 Virtual Firbre Channel Client Adapter
Fcs1 Available C2-T1 Virtual Firbre Channel Client Adapter

Backing this is the only NPIV supported HBA op POWER, the dual port 8Gb Qlogic
(FC5735)

This might be usefull to know driver or other dependancy wise, also realise
that your fc switches need to support NPIV and you will need soft zoning on
your switches for the NPIV zoning.

With VIOS v2, VIO servers can virtualize HBAs. So it is possible to run
LAN-free via a virtualized HBA. I haven't done it yet, so can't speak
to performance.
