Hey there, O TSMers.
I'm chewing on some performance questions (We don't really know if
they're "problems" yet) with some of our NAS backups. Basically, we
don't have broad enough experience to know if what we're seeing is
as-expected for the scale in question, or if there's a problem we
should start bug-hunting.
So I'm starting by showing you mine.
We've got an NS-G8 (EMC NAS gateway product) with a bunch of CLARIION
disk behind it. There's a wide variety of stuff being served from it,
of which a moderate fraction is stuff we back up ourselves. We're
mounting the shares on purpose-created VMWARE guests, and backing them
up with normal TSM clients.
Of course, we can't do journals, because it's the appliance, not the
backup machine, that 'owns' the disk.
here's a stab at occupancy, and incremental durations in hours and
minutes. We're using 6.2.0 on the client, and 5.5.3 on the server.

Is this grossly similar to what you're seeing? Am I slow? Am I fast?
