I understand that you don't support install beyond RHEL and SLES, and
that's what I'm suggesting be changed. I've got a passel of links on
the topic, and am writing my own docs for my local user community.

But I'm appealing through Official Channels to have Ubuntu added to
the supported list, because it's rapidly growing in my client
population. Others on the TSM mailing list appear to have similar
experiences.

Ubuntu is becoming an important customer platform, maybe even the
dominant desktop. Users of the platform are accustomed to clicking an
entry in a GUI and having installs magically happen: the level of
polish is substantial.

Telling this community of users that they need to go run alien, and
then make a few links, and oh, make sure you've got the 32-bit
compatibility libraries installed...

The Debian population would take that set of instructions and be
happily content. The Ubuntu population is not, in general, equipped
to do so. It would advance IBM's goals to make the Ubuntu install
smooth.
