[ADSM-L] SV: LTO4 copy pool with TS3500 and LTO5 drives
2010-04-14 05:49:07
Hi,
Yes you can do that. both with 1 library or with 2 libraries.
---- With 1 Library ----
If you only have 1 library (TS3500) you can either partition the library to 2
libraries (see the next session then) or you can use 1 library and do following
steps.
1. Create 1 Device Classes called BACKUPCLASS using parameter FORMAT=ULTRIUM5C
2. Create another device class called COPYCLASS using parameter FORMAT=ULTRIUM4C
3. Create one new Primary Storage Pool using BACKUPCLASS
4. Create one new Copy Storage Pool using COPYCLASS
Now are you using one library but specify what type of media to use.
---- With 2 Libraries ----
1. Create 2 Libraries using DEFINE LIBRARY and DEFINE PATH to both libraries
and drives.
2. Create 1 Device Classes called BACKUPCLASS using parameter FORMAT=ULTRIUM5C
and LIBRARY=LTO5 Lib name
3. Create another device class called COPYCLASS using parameter
FORMAT=ULTRIUM4C and LIBRARY=LTO4 lib name
4. Create one new Primary Storage Pool using BACKUPCLASS
5. Create one new Copy Storage Pool using COPYCLASS

Ämne: LTO4 copy pool with TS3500 and LTO5 drives
Hi all,
Can I define a primary and a copy pool on a TS3500 with LTO5 drives with the
following conditions:
- primary pool uses LTO5 cartridges
- copy pool uses LTO4 cartridges (because the library in D/R site has LTO4
drives)
Thanks
