Gregory,

to upgrade TSM Client.
Note that postsched task is just the way it's implementad, but it does
not really matter, except that client to be updated needs to have the
TSM scheduler set up.
> Where can I find detailed information?
Official documentation (Infocenter) has not been updated yet. Maybe it's
already available on Passport Advantage ?
There will be a Tivoli Technical Exchange webcast this week. I'm pretty
sure that Dave Daun will cover this subject.

According to the announcement letter, Windows clients, from 5.4 to 6.2
are candidate. TSM 6.2 Admin Center is required. See the TSM 6.2
announcement letter :
http://www-01.ibm.com/cgi-bin/common/ssi/ssialias?infotype=an&subtype=ca&htmlfid=897/ENUS210-040&appname=isource&language=enus
"Storage administrators can automatically schedule and distribute Tivoli
Storage Manager backup-archive client updates for Microsoft Windows®,
which helps deliver quicker and less labor intensive software distribution."
"The updating of backup-archive clients for Windows can be quicker and
less labor intensive with Tivoli Storage Manager V6.2. From the Tivoli
Storage Manager and Tivoli Storage Manager Extended Edition V6.2
Administration Center, you select a maintenance level to be distributed
to a list of existing clients. The distribution and code updates are run
automatically on the clients, based on a predefined policy and schedule.
Also from the Administration Center, you can review the client
distribution status. Tivoli Storage Manager or Tivoli Storage Manager
Extended Edition backup-archive client for Windows maintenance
distribution is supported for upgrade from V5.4 to V6.2. A wizard is
used to set the basic server configuration required for automatic client
deployments, including capabilities such as identification of:
* Where the deployment packages are to be stored
* The storage media on which to store deployment packages
* The retention policies for the deployment packages"

Hi Grigori,
If you want to install the Windows client as usual, please download the
.exe file as you were used to (it's in a subfolder).
The .exp file is related to a new feature : client upgrade from the
server as postsched task.

".exp" in addition to standard files ".exe".
EXE files are older than EXP.
What is this?
How to use EXP file?
Thank you very much in advance.
