[ADSM-L] 5.4 AIX API client install oddities

Hi,

 

I'm experiencing some strange inconsistencies when trying to install the
5.4.3.3 API client on AIX 5.3 LPARS in a P550 where I'm trying to backup
a TPC DB2 database.

On some instances the /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin64 directory is
created, and on these machines the documented process results in a
functioning backup. On other instances the
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin64 is not created, only the /bin directory.

 

The documentation indicates that the dsm.sys is expected to be linked
from there to /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64, but even if I create the
dsm.sys file in the /bin64 directory I cannot perform the backup from
DB2, and am presented with the SQL2033N '106' error. The 106 error
usually points to permissions problems for the log files, but the
DSMI_LOG=/home/db2inst1 environment variable is correctly set and the
dsierror.log file in that location has full r/w permissions.

 

Why would the installs produce different directory structures?

I must be missing something obvious, am I?
