It seems that /dev is excluded on all of our Linux clients (but not

df will probably show you something like:
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
udev 10240 84 10156 1% /dev
As you can see, /dev is not even a normal filesystem (unlike Solaris
and AIX), so making backups is of little use. It is generated on the
fly by the kernel. It is important to backup /etc/udev/
The directory doesn't even show in the GUI when attempting a backup.
(Normally if it is excluded, it is listed, but with an "X").
However a
command line backup of /dev does work. The q inclexcl doesn't show
anything excluded.
On Windows, a "q inclexcl" shows the OS excluded files, but nothing on
linux. Does anyone know a list of what is excluded and how?
Client: 5.5.1 on Linux
a "dsmc q inclexcl" shows:
*** FILE INCLUDE/EXCLUDE ***
Mode Function Pattern (match from top down) Source File
---- --------- ------------------------------ -----------------
No exclude filespace statements defined.
Excl Directory /.../.TsmCacheDir TSM
No include/exclude statements defined.
No DFS include/exclude statements defined.
PS The $LANG is set to en_US, so it's not a character limitation thing

Shawn
