I don't have any specific knowledge of your set up, but one thing that could be
happening is a mismatch between the SCSI ID and Element number of the drive.
I've seen this happen: library mounts a tape in a drive and TSM tries to mount
the tape in the other drive. Thus, TSM does not see the tape that got mounted.
In your case this is pretty easy to fix: switch the SCSI/Element around and
see if that resolves the problem.
Otherwise, I've got no idea!

Subject: [ADSM-L] Xseries w/ iSeriestape library
I have a new install of Tivoli 5.5.0. The server is an IBM Blade 8853-L4U
in an HS21 chassis, running Windows 2003 Standard SP2. The blade uses
DASD and tape drives within the AS400. We have one 3590 tape drive, and a
3577 tape library that includes two 3592-E05 drives. On the Windows
server, the 3 tape drives show in Hardware Manager with a 6.1.9.3 IBM
driver . The Changer Bus Enumerator also has a 6.1.9.3 driver, as does
the Tape Bus Enumerator.
The problems I am having are getting anything to go on tape,
whether it is a migration or a backup . When doing a Backup DB or Backup
stgpool, I mount a scratch tape & answer the mount request w/ REPLY 00x.
The command is accepted, but the request is still there, until it times
out or is cancelled. This occurs on all 3 drives. I've tried defining
tape volumes for the Offsite & Onsite pools, but the results are the same.
More info; if I go into IBM iSeries Integrated Server Support,
only the 3590 tape drive shows. I believe this is OK, because the other
3592 drives are controlled by the Auto-library. Before using the 3590
drive , I do vary it off on the iSeries partition, & lock it on the
Windows server.
Any tips , troubleshooting, etc are appreciated.
