Is this also the case in other OS's like Netware? or just Unix based
(AIX,
HP, Linux, Solais...)

Any OS making use of ACLs (which Unix can, but typically not used), or
which conventionally employs extended attributes (Netware, Windows)
results in the use of storage pools for the preservation of unique
backup instances.
