Hmm, good question. I'm not sure of the answer. We have only been
running it for about 30 days so far. 

Under the covers it the appliance runs a customized Linux 2.6 kernel,
but customers only have a limited login shell, so I'm not sure what the
underlying filsystem type is.

I'm wondering if there are filesystem fragmentation issues when using
devclass=file on an NFS mounted DD volume.  Filesystem fragmentation is
an issue when using devclass=file on most filesystems that I'm aware of.
How long have you been running this way on the DD?
