We did not run expire before our upgrade last month.  We do run expire
to completion daily.

The IBM advisory to run Expire Inventory prior to an upgrade is
probably to deal with customers who don't run them regularly, and who
may get flustered in the time taken by any database updating involved
in the upgrade.  I would imagine that all of us are running Expire
Inventory to completion as frequently as feasible, so it's a non-
instruction for us.
