Hi Geoff,

Have a look in your dsmerror.log file to see if there's anything there.
Use QUERY EVENT with F=D to see the results of the event plus the result
code (should be 0, 4, 8, or 12). Also, use QUERY FILESPACE to make sure
the completion timestamp matches the SELECT output. Less likely, but worth
checking: have a look at the server actlog to make sure there are not odd
messages during the time frame of the backup.

Another thing would be to use VERBOSE logging, as there might be some
detail suppressed that would shed some light.
