Hi Geoff

Switch your DB backups to the new technology and start shipping offsite.
(run DBsnapshots to the old technology if you are a nervous nellie)

Create another copypool on the new technology. Run a backup stg whenever
you have some spare cycles/drives until the pool is up to date. Then start
shipping the tapes and stop using the old pool. Run delete vol on all the
old copypool volumes to free up db space.

Next make the nextstg and reclaimstg of your old primary pool point to the
new technology primary pool. Mark the old pool read-only. New backups and
the output of reclaims will go to the new technology. Run mig stg on the
old primary pool whenever you have spare cycles/drives.

Finally clean up.

Regards

Steve

When migrating data from one type of tape to another (2 libraries), with
both types on the same TSM server, what is the best method(s) that would
move data from the old type to a new type, create offsite volumes with
the new type and remove data from both onsite and offsite old type tapes
so they can be removed and the drives and library deleted? I am guessing
there are multiple steps in order to accomplish this.
