Pierre,
Do you mean Lan-free backups?

Look at: the Redbook: "Getting more out of your SAN with TSM"

From what I read it appears many sites will try to implement Lan-free if
they have an environment that supports it, but depending on the specifics,
there may be no performance advantage but there will be a lot of
configuration and sys admin maintanance overhead. Are you backing up large
databases or files on those NT boxes?

From the Redbook:

SAN-based (or LAN-free) backup performance will decrease when many smaller
objects are transferred, because more time is spent in non-SAN
communications. In some cases, a LAN-based backup might even be faster than
a SAN-based one for the same workload. Most typically, using LAN-free for
backing up larger objects, such as database files or full volume image
backups, yields the best performance. Traditional Tivoli Storage Manager
progressive incremental backups usually perform better over the LAN than
LAN-free, because this type of backup typically does not exploit fully the
speed of the SAN or allow a tape drive to operate at streaming speeds.
LAN-free to disk backup might also be appropriate for these type of
environments.

Hi,

I am looking for feedback about use of SANergy.

Looking for impressions, efficiency, applicable domains, problematics,
difficulties and so.

I am studying possible implementation of SANergy for backup purpose in
wintel world (with AIX/TSM Server).

Regards,

Pierre
