Have you configured your devclass like this (taken from my devconfig file):

DEFINE DEVCLASS 3592_CLASS DEVTYPE=3592 FORMAT=DRIVE MOUNTLIMIT=DRIVES
MOUNTWAIT=60 MOUNTRETENTION=5 PREFIX=ADSM LIBRARY=3584LIB WORM
=NO DRIVEENCRYPTION=ALLOW SCALECAPACITY=100

I think you have to specify DEVTYPE=3592 ..

If you type "lsdev -Cc tape" in AIX, what is shown?

You should have an output like:

rmt0 Available 05-08-02 IBM 3592 Tape Drive (FCP)

HI All,
     I am trying to configure 3592 tapedrive in TSM5.4 in AIX5.3 I have
installed Atape9.7.5.0.bin(also tried Atape.10.5.2.0.bin)  device driver.
When i had defined devclass and query drive the devicetype is shown as
generic tape drive.
When i labeled volume drives goes offline.
Can anybody tell me what could be the problem.

library,drive and path for both defined in TSM
