Dave -

- Exclude the dsmerror.log itself from backup.
- Exclude temp areas (and browser caches, if possible).
- Code CHAngingretries with a reasonable value.

The ANS1802E message means that the backup did finish.
This is just a matter of iteratively tuning your backup options to
skip the unbackupable and retry what's worth retrying.
