Richard,
I had already seen that technote - it deals with having Full Control 
permissions, which I have.
I have noticed that the problem does not occur when I rdp to the client's 
console (start, run, mstsc -console), rather than use a regular rdp session 
logged in as local admin, so it looks like I have a workaround.
