Dear TSM-user


Do you have any experience with replacing a defect SCSI LTO3 drive in a
3582 Library?
It is a CRU (a Customer Replaceable Unit)

It's not completely clear, what I have to do. I have read the Setup,
Operator and Service Guide (IBM TotalStorage 3582 Tape Library) and chapter
9. Removal and Replacement Procedure but this part only describes the
hardware replacement.

Maybe you can hint me, what I have to do in TSM server.

I suppose that I have to update the description of the replaced drive with
the new serialnumber, or will TSM server get this relevant information
directly from the replaced hardware?
