You can use client option sets (defined on the server, see DEFINE CLOPTSET, DEFINE CLIENTOPT, and UPDATE NODE CLOPTSET=nnn server admin commands) to control much of this behavior.

For example, you could define a server-side client option set that includes something like:

   exclude *:\...\*.mp3
   exclude *:\...\*.wav
   exclude *:\...\*.avi
   exclude *:\...\*.jpg

etc.

Hi,

Why the options file could be edited locally by users who owns root privileges (ex: users with laptops), why this information is not kept in

the server and manage by TSM administrators ¿?

It seems that some users could manage their own backups, and backup something that will occupy space without being important for restore (ex: movie files, music, photos,...)

What do you think ¿?

Thanks,

Ibán.
