The newer TSM BA client allows for file level deletions of backup data
with the "delete backup" command. The delete backup command has options
like "fromdate/fromtime/todate/totime".

Has anyone used this to delete orphaned RMAN backup objects? If so, do
you have a syntax example?

Here's an example but not working...

tsm> q backup /amdp1/* -su=yes -ina
Size Backup Date Mgmt Class A/I File
             ---- ----------- ---------- --- ----
API 4,096,000 KB 02/03/05 21:21:01 DEFAULT A
/amdp1//ORA_A_AMDP1_549321660213112jgbruts

tsm> del backup /amdp1//ORA_A_AMDP1_549321660213112jgbruts
ANS1302E No objects on server match query

tsm> del backup "/amdp1//ORA_A_AMDP1_549321660213112jgbruts"
ANS1302E No objects on server match query

tsm> del backup "/amdp1/ORA_A_AMDP1_549321660213112jgbruts"
ANS1302E No objects on server match query

tsm>

If I can get this to work this would be a much easier way to enforce
retention policies.

Thanks.
