Bill,

In answer to your last question, regarding the copying of the database &
log files. If you mean just physically copy the raw files to another
machine and then physically copy them back, I have never tried this,
therefore I cannot offer any advice as to whether it would work.
However, I have a suspicion that TSM will know that there has been
change via the dsmserv.dsk file and the page shadow token value.

Perhaps somebody else could verify this or give their experience.

If you are going to have the server down, and the db+log physical disk
area is going to be reorganised, you may want to format a new set of db
& log volumes and then perform a db restore.

Leigh,

Thankyou your response, I will adopt the idea of deleting the primary
disk pool
volumes and recreate them after the disk upgrade using a script maybe.

Also as we are a medium size installation and intend to have the TSM
server
unavailable during the upgrade.

A naive question maybe, as regards the database and log files(and
mirrored
copies),
is it not possible to copy them onto another node, them copy them back
after the disk
upgrade ?

Bill
