You know, we had a speaker from TSM at our local IBM midrange LUG last night.  When I cornered him after the meeting he mentioned something about AUTODetect also.  Thanks.

I encountered these errors after a TSM-server upgrade + reboot.
"UPDATE DRIVE <LIBRARY> <DRIVE> SERIAL=AUTODetect" fixed the problem.

I have a pmr open to figure out why TSM loses it's tape configs and
gen's the following message whenever you try to use the tape drive after
an IPL of the Suse Linux lpar on a System i.

Since the pmr shows no sign of being resolved in a timely fashion I was

even automatically after the start of TSM.

Seems pretty consistent that when we IPL our Linux partition on our
iSeries TSM will no longer talk to the tape drives.
