You can either create another cad service using the nodename you gave
for the tdp nodename or create the scheduling service for it. Create a
dsm_tdp.opt file in ba client dir. This should be identical to the
dsm.opt you have except the nodename will be your tdp nodename.

Dsmcutil sched /name:"service name" /node:"tdp node name"
/pass:"password" /autostart:yes /startnow:yes /clientdir:"tsm ba path"
/optfile:"dsm_tdp.opt"

hi, thanks ...

i've done all this and the backups are running fine, for EXC and for C:
and system state,

each schedule is using his own node name of course ...

BUT ... DSM_CAD cannont catch the TDP scheduler service, whatever i do
it catches only the filesystem schedule !

both dsm.opt/s (baclient/dsm.opt and TDPExchange/dsm.opt) have
MANAGEDSERVICES SCHEDULE

@ 13:00 i scheduled the TDP backup for 13:05 and restarted the DSM_CAD,
after DSM_CAD asked the server whats new for me

in baclient/dsmsched.log shows me only the next operation schedule for
filesystem backup in TDPExchange/dsmsched.log there is nothing ...

i assume he should catch the TDP schedule from the server and not the
filesystem backup schedule which is due tommorrow :-)

ah.

thanks

You should use a unique nodename for your exchange TSM instance.

Kick off the tdpexc gui select the restore tab. You should be prompted
for your password. Enter it then it will be saved in the client
registry.

To set up a properly scheduled exchange backup job you must first create
the schedule and use the action of command. Then on the exchange side
create the cmd file that launches your backup.

Here is an example.
Here is the schedule on the TSM server

            Policy Domain Name: STANDARD
                 Schedule Name: EXCHANGE_ADMIN_1
                   Description: Corporate Administrative Exchange Backup
                                 Schedule 1
                        Action: Command
                       Options:
                       Objects: c:\excfull.cmd
                      Priority: 5
               Start Date/Time: 02/07/01 16:30:00
                      Duration: 2 Hour(s)
                Schedule Style: Classic
                        Period: 1 Day(s)
                   Day of Week: Any
                         Month:
                  Day of Month:
                 Week of Month:
                    Expiration:
Last Update by (administrator): ADMIN
         Last Update Date/Time: 12/30/05 10:13:34
              Managing profile:

Here is a part of the cmd file on the Exchange server.

tdpexcc backup * full /tsmoptfile=dsm.opt /logfile=excfull.log

We give all our exhange TDP servers unique names on the TSM server.ie.
Servername_exch. Associate the unique name to the schedule on the TSM
server. Then create the scheduler service using the unique name you are
using for your TDP server.

Hi

The scheduler service is a BA client function, so are the Dsmcad. It
should not be a problem to start a CAD service that is associated with a
TDP agent schedule or/and a regular BA client schedule.

i maybe missed it in the documentation but ...

the regular dsmc sched service assuming that they are both installed on
the server ? i'm having problems with one/both of them ... i'll post
details if someone is willing to help me ...

thanks a bunch
