It certainly looks like the only way forward would be to set up a new TSM
environment and keep the old one for restores until such a time as the
remaining data on the clients can be exported/imported to the new server.

But this poses a question. If the clients are now all pointing to the new
server, how can they action restores from the old server?

Thanks

Farren

Subject: TSM Database conversion

Hi All

At present we have TSM Server running on Solaris and I'm am looking at
getting new hardware for an upgrade of our existing OS and software.
Now, I'm happy going with Solaris and Sun kit, but my boss wants me to
look into cheaper alternatives. I understand that this could lead in a
number of different directions, but my question is this.

Lets say I decide to move to another OS, how do I go about transferring
the old Solaris database to the new TSM server? What kind of steps are
involved?

If there is already a large volume of documentation available on this
topic then a pointer in their direction would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
