I have a customer moving from STK 9840B drives to 9840C in an ACSLS
library. These drives both utilize the same media. The 9840C drives can
read the 9840B written tapes. I've done TSM media migrations in the
past, but always with drives using different media. We did the standard
migration, create a new ACSLS library, device class, storage pool...
Then change the destination of the primary and copy storage pools, next
storage pools changes etc... Do I have to do that when swapping drives
that use the same media? Can I just make sure the device class is using
format=drives, assuming I swap them all out at once? I realize if I use
both 9840B and 9840C drives at once, I'll need to specify the format and
create multiple libraries. Will the tapes need to be re-labelled or will
TSM just reclaim them, set them scratch, and write in the new format
when they are called for again?

Thanks in advance.
