Hi TSM'ers,
1.      I moved to TSM 5.3.1.0 yesterday on an H70-AIX-box ( 5300-02 )
        from TSM 5.1.9 AIX 4330-11
2. 99% of the migration worked well and in expected time
3. This morning I found a pecularity with resp to 3590-drives in a
        3494-library, which is FC-connected to the H70.
        The o/p of "lsdev -Cc tape" is as follows:
rzds3# lsdev -Cc tape
lmcp0 Available LAN/TTY Library Management Control Point
rmt0 Available 30-68-01 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive (FCP)
rmt1 Available 30-68-01 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive (FCP)
rmt2 Available 30-68-01 IBM 3590 Tape Drive and Medium Changer (FCP)
rmt3 Available 30-68-01 IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive (FCP)

smc2 Available 40-58-01 IBM 3584 Library Medium Changer (FCP)
smc3 Available 40-58-01 IBM 3584 Library Medium Changer (FCP)

        I had done the following DEFINES for this library in that order
DEFINE DEVCLASS 3590CL DEVTYPE=3590 FORMAT=DRIVE MOUNTLIMIT=DRIVES
        MOUNTWAIT=60 MOUNTRETENTION=10 PREFIX=ADSM LIBRARY=3494

DEFINE DRIVE 3494 3590_P5 ONLINE=Yes SERIAL="0000000F1041"
DEFINE DRIVE 3494 3590_P6 ONLINE=Yes SERIAL="0000000F0933"

DEFINE PATH DS3 3590_P7 SRCTYPE=SERVER DESTTYPE=DRIVE LIBRARY=3494
        DEVICE=/dev/rmt5 ONLINE=YES

4. Only the 3590_P6 drive was usable and the others NOT.
5. I carefully checked, that the o/p I obtained by running
           for i in 2 5 9 12; do lscfg -vpl rmt$i; done
        matched the o/p of
           tsm> query drive 3494 f=d
        with resp to "rmt?" "serial#" AND "WWN"
6. Only the one drive "3590_p6" matched completely and the
        remaining ones had odd WWN's.
7. trying to force the propper WWN ( obtained in step 5 above )
        resulted in:
tsm: DS3>upda drive 3494 3590_p4 wwn=50050763004060d6
ANR8420E UPDATE DRIVE: An I/O error occurred while accessing drive
3590_P4.
ANS8001I Return code 3.

8.      I checked the "5.3.1.4 patches-README", but didn't find anything
        which might apply for the above failure

Any idea, what might be the reason for this behaviour
