There is a problem with 5.2 that I just stumbled on like this.
Tivoli's fix is to change client to POLLING mode and then
do a regular scheduled backup. Then chnage back to PROMPTED
and it should work.
It did for me.

Hi,
I can get client schedules to work in client mode but not in
prompted,
on a XP m/c.
I can ping the client from TSM server & vice versa.

I can only get it work in prompted mode after restarting the Scheduler
Service once
the schedule is in pending state.
Prompted is the norm at my site and I have no problems with other clients.
I tried deinstalling TSM , removing all the TSM services.........etc. and
reinstalling.
TSM Server 5.2.2.0 on W23K, Client 5.3.0.0
