Session ID's and Unix PID
2005-06-30 09:26:06
I have been puzzling over this for a while;
Can anyone think of a way of matching unix PID's for dsmc processes
against the session numbers generated at the StorageAgent and TSM
Server.
I can get them to within a granularity of a second, by querying the
activity log and matching start times, but we frequently have LanFree
backup sessions starting within the same second.
The idea is to be able to generate a dynamic web page for the Ops that
shows;
Unix PID -> Filesystem -> Logfile -> StagentSessions & bytecounts,
DsmservSessions & bytecounts -> DriveAndVolume
This will help the unix guys a lot when they are called during the night
and have to determine which backups are writing to what tapes and how
quickly etc.. etc..
Matt.
