Hi,

My company has switched from eudora to outlook. TSM is getting bombed by
huge .pst files.
Many of them are over 2G so subfile doesn't work them. Most of the users
are still on less than a 5.3 client
so a lot of backups are missed (350 yesterday). Which is good and bad, good
because I don't know if
the server can handle it, bad of course because the SLA says they should be
backed up.

We are not using Exchange; later we will add the Oracle Collaboration Suite.

But all of that is just background; my real question is if anyone is using
an attachment extractor
product. If so, how is it working? Did it make a big difference in the
size of backups?
We are evaluating "Attachment Save" from Sperry software.

The server is 5.2.3.5 on solaris 9. Clients are a mix of 5.*, 1,200+
clients. TSM db is 184G at 93%.

If you have any insight, I would like to hear it! Naturally, I wasn't on
the outlook team, and no one
was concerned about backup.

Thanks,

Bill Colwell
