Hi Mario

You don't say what environment groupwise is running on - I'll assume netware
6

The issue is that the underlying groupwise files are mostly a hashed file
structure and so every file changes every day, also, there are internal
links between the components. In my last position we were working on this
and this what what I had come up with.

Use the groupwise gwbackup utility to backup the "database" to a file system
that is a mapped windows share. Then, use the windows adaptive subfile
backup from the Windows server to TSM.

The gwbackup utility is available from Novell [see tid 2929217] and is
designed to create consistent backups. Using the adaptive subfile backup
means that it is possible to do meaningful incremental backups.

Test carefully - this was a planned implementation but my contract ran out
and I left that role before we had a chance to properly test.

Steve

I need to perform an online backup of a Novell Groupwise environment using
TSM ... does anybody knows how can I accomplish this ?

Thanks.
