Hi,

The reuse delay is a protection against overwriting volumes in case of a
disaster (in this case losing you ITSM database and having to restore
it). The reuse delay should be as long as your database back-up
retention.

In real life, I use a reuse delay of 1 day for the primary tapepools and
2 days for copypools. In case of having to restore the ITSM database I
can get back 1 day without restore/auditing the primary tapepools and 2
days with auditing these tapepools.

Regards,

Karel
ps. Having been hit by a database restore and a reuse delay of 0, I
sleep a lot better with this config.

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone was willing to offer up any ideas on what this
parameter should be set to for tape storage pools; both primary and
copy?

Thanks!
