You need a TSM for SAN license for each box where you're going to run
lan free.  You need to install the TSM Storage Agent on each of those
boxes.  And of course, you need the appropriate SAN infrastructure.

Yes.  Try Compression Yes in the dsm.sys file.  It may be that the
network is a bottleneck for these large backups and compressing first
and then sending the smaller file over the network may improve backup
time.  It depends on a lot of variables so the best tactic is to try it
and compare backup times.  This is the CHEAP solution if it works.
