Are you doing OS level backups (sysback/mksysb on AIX, similar tool on
other OS platforms) of your TSM Server for DR? If you are, you can "cheat"
one of two ways:
1. Do your TSM DBBackup to disk, then include that file in the OS level
backup.
2. Shut down TSM, do the OS backup and include the TSM DB and Log files
Of course, you'd have to do these daily to be of much use in a DR situation
(or even for having to restore the TSM DB for any reason).
Now to recover from 1, you restore the OS backup, then setup and restore
the TSM DB, then do the minor reconfiguring needed. Just like regular for
a DR. For 2, you just recover the OS backup, and bring up TSM.
With the 3592 tapes, you'd at least feel like you're getting your money's
worth out of the capacity this way.
